WaterAid PNG require a sport for development coordinator.
Support and strengthen the capacity of sport organisations, mainly the Netball Federation, and local partner organisations and community members to integrate sport into existing community development programmes to address issues of gender equality and women’s empowerment in Papua New Guinea and to promote WASH outcomes.
This position will also support advancing the schools approach within the sports for development programme which will involve assisting Water Aid Papua New Guinea (WAPNG) in building new and existing partnerships with the WASH community partners, sports federations and schools to introduce WASH into schools. These would include schools in National Capital District and Central Province.
In consultation with their line manager and relevant stakeholders, volunteers complete a work plan in the first three months of their assignment. The duties below are an indication of the type of work that may be involved in meeting the assignment objectives:
- Developing resources to train teachers to deliver sport-based activities for school students, including girls
- Supporting partners to promote safe hygiene behaviours including hand washing and menstrual hygiene through sport development officers and teachers during the school-based sport programmes
- Supporting WAPNG program in advocating for WASH resources in schools through sports organisations and partners
