Job Description

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

  • We are looking for someone with formal training or certification in software engineering and 8+ years of applied experience, including substantial leadership of infrastructure, SRE, or platform teams, with experience managing managers.
  • We need a leader who has managed technologists, budgets, resourcing, and delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • We require hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems, including system design, application development, testing, and operational reliability.
  • We expect deep expertise running production systems across public cloud and on-premises data centers, including multi-region active-active resilience and disaster recovery.
  • We need demonstrated ownership of security operations in a regulated environment, including SecOps, identity and access, secrets management, audit, and regulatory compliance.
  • We are seeking experience leading the adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices across teams, with clear operating expectations, outcome measurement, and secure handling of sensitive inputs and outputs.
  • We value a strong understanding of responsible AI use and governance in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, resiliency and security impacts, and safe scaling patterns.
  • We require proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • We need advanced understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • We are looking for advanced skills in one or more programming languages and the ability to guide critical technical decisions.
  • We expect demonstrated proficiency with software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or distributed data systems.
  • Preferred experience includes deep AWS knowledge across multi-account, multi-region architectures alongside on-premises data center operations.
  • Preferred experience includes expert-level Kubernetes and containerized platform operations, including multi-tenant isolation and noisy-neighbor controls.
  • Preferred experience includes Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform, and GitOps-driven immutable deployment pipelines.
  • Preferred experience includes policy and authorization at the infrastructure layer, policy-as-code workflows, and production-scale Databricks and Apache Flink operations.
  • Preferred experience includes observability and SRE tooling such as Splunk, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus/Grafana, plus SLO and error-budget practices.
  • Preferred experience includes operating GPU compute fleets for ML serving and training, along with capacity and cost governance and regulated-environment compliance frameworks.
  • Preferred familiarity includes building and running Java Spring Boot GraphQL services for high-availability, low-latency APIs, as well as lakehouse data platforms, Apache Iceberg, streaming and batch pipelines, and OLAP or columnar stores.
Responsibilities:
  • We provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for engineering managers and senior technologists across infrastructure engineering, SRE, and SecOps for BRIE and NEO.
  • We own the reliability strategy for the platform estate, including SLOs, error budgets, capacity planning, and disaster recovery across active-active multi-region AWS and on-premises environments.
  • We set the security operations agenda, covering threat detection and response, vulnerability and patch management, secrets and key management, and audit, risk, and regulatory evidence.
  • We champion infrastructure as code, immutable deployments, and platform automation so provisioning, scaling, and remediation are repeatable and auditable.
  • We define direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation to improve speed, quality, and operational outcomes while maintaining validation, security, resiliency, traceability, and reuse guardrails.
  • We apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools, to increase automation value and unlock capacity at scale.
  • We lead incident command for major incidents, drive blameless postmortems, and ensure systemic remediation is completed to improve stability.
  • We anticipate infrastructure needs across compute, storage, networking, and GPU serving or training capacity, and translate them into a funded, prioritized roadmap.
  • We make decisions affecting resourcing, budget, tooling, and vendor selection across the infrastructure organization and remain accountable for the outcomes.
  • We lead evaluation sessions with cloud providers, vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architecture, technical capability, and fit within our systems and information architecture.
  • We partner with platform, product, data, and InfoSec stakeholders and communicate reliability, security, and cost trade-offs to senior leadership.
